Book review -Tuesdays with Morrie

Image
Hello readers, I finally read the most-awaited book on my list— Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom. This memoir beautifully captures the relationship between a teacher and his student, enriched by their deep, meaningful conversations. The author, a sports journalist, reconnects with his former college professor, Morrie Schwartz, who has been diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis)  Every Tuesday, they meet to discuss life’s fundamental topics, ranging from love and forgiveness to marriage and death. Through these conversations, Morrie imparts invaluable lessons that extend far beyond their meetings, resonating with readers as well. Despite knowing his days are numbered, Morrie embraces death with wisdom and grace rather than fear or despair. His outlook on life and mortality is profoundly inspiring. Themes and Lessons: 🔹 The Importance of Human Connection – Morrie emphasizes that love and relationships bring true fulfillment. 🔹 Facing Mortality with Grace – Instea...

Colleen Hoover book series review

Image
Hello Readers!  This time, I’m sharing not one, but two book reviews.  I recently finished Colleen Hoover's emotional rollercoaster series, It Ends with Us and It Starts with Us, and I couldn’t wait to discuss both together. These books delve into the complexities of love, trauma, and healing, and I'm excited to share my thoughts with you all. It Ends with Us is an emotional book, whereas It Starts with Us is a comforting, dramatic book. Lily Bloom, Ryle Kincaid, and Atlas Corrigan are the main characters in both these books.  Lily Bloom is a courageous and strong woman who has faced trauma and is trying to carve out a new life for herself. Ryle Kincaid, with his charm and arrogance, is the kind of man Lily initially thinks she can love, but his toxic tendencies soon become clear. Then there’s Atlas Corrigan, a mature and kind-hearted man who represents Lily’s first love and a chance for something healthier and more supportive. It ends with us, starting with Lily's life i...

Book Review-Unfinished: Priyanka Chopra

How difficult is it to build a career doing what you love?  What if your family supported you every step of the way?  Would it still be as challenging? Priyanka Chopra Jonas' memoir Unfinished , beautifully captures this journey. This heartwarming book shares the story of her life—from her childhood and Miss World win to her global career in acting and singing. It also delves into her close family bonds and her love story with Nick Jonas. Each chapter reveals raw, emotional moments that may leave readers teary-eyed. Priyanka’s candid storytelling takes readers behind the scenes of her Bollywood and Hollywood projects, uncovering the struggles she faced—not just in her career but also in her personal life. I enjoyed reading Unfinished . It motivated me to stay ambitious and reminded me that with determination and support, it’s possible to overcome any challenge. I rate it 3.8/5⭐ Happy Reading!

Book Review - The Secret

Image
I first got to know about this book at a seminar I attended in my community. I learnt that this book is about the Law of Attraction. But I never felt the urge to read it since. Then, when I got more familiar with terms like "manifesting," "law of attraction," "affirmations," "positivity," "gratitude," etc., I got this book for my next read.  "To use the law of attraction to your advantage, make it a habitual way of being, not just a one-time thing." The book is a motivational, self-help book. It gives readers hope that they have control over their lives through their thoughts and feelings. However, some critics say that the book oversimplifies life’s challenges and makes it seem like positive thinking alone can solve everything, which may not always be realistic. "The more you use the power within you, the more power you will draw through you." This book is all about the Law of Attraction. It tells you to think posit...

It contains a lot of examples of athletes, top performers, business leaders, and comedians with practical, tried-and-tested. It explains how to create a habit, step by step, and how to break a bad one.  "The holy grail of habit change is not a single 1 perc...

Summer in Mumbai

Image
This year too, in the summers, I visited Mumbai at my maternal grandparents house. Well,  visiting in summer brings back the childhood memories of summer holidays during school and how eagerly I waited to pack my bags and enjoy those days.  Bringing all the memories back, this time it was something like that. I can say that I traveled to different parts of Mumbai this time. Every day, it used to be a new place I went to, either for shopping, work or just for fun.  I started my trip by visiting the recently built Coastal Road, and Whoa! It's hard to believe you are traveling across the ocean on a road built by humans. The idea is such (words cannot express how I feel and what I've experienced). I really enjoyed it, and once we got to Marine Drive, we waited long for sandwich ice cream. Like really long because of the amount of crowd over there.  Mom and I met our cousins for lunch, and we went to fine dining. This was my first experience, and the a...

Book Review - A Thousand Splendid Suns

Image
The last book I read before my break was A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini and What a book is this?  It kept both me and my mom so engrossed in it. Every page I read was so heart touching. PS: You might get teary eyed in some pages. This book's plot takes place in Kabul. Along with the other supporting characters, Mariam and Laila, two ladies, are the major characters. The author presents every detail of their life in a very natural way, going back to their early years, difficulties, how they met, and happy moments.  Not only are the details of these women's lives described with excellent detail, but we also get to see the surrounding area, the streets of Kabul, the restaurants, and how the city had become a war zone. This book portrays multiple expressions of love, including the love between a father and daughter, a girl and a boy, the love between two strangers who eventually developed a priceless bond, and the love between a mother and her daughter. In short, it w...
