Book Review - Before the coffee gets cold

Image
Before the Coffee Gets Cold is a quiet, thoughtful novel that uses time travel in a very gentle and emotional way. Set in a small Tokyo café, the story focuses less on changing the past and more on understanding feelings we leave unspoken. Each chapter introduces a new character, making the book feel like a collection of small, meaningful moments. The writing is simple and reflective, though at times the rules of time travel can feel repetitive. Still, the emotions behind each story are sincere and relatable, especially for readers who enjoy introspective and comforting reads. Overall, this book is best enjoyed slowly. It’s not fast-paced or dramatic, but it leaves you with a soft reminder that even if the past can’t be changed, the way we move forward can be. I would rate it 3.9/5 ⭐

And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini

Image
Having read Khaled Hosseini’s other two masterpieces, The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns , I went into And the Mountains Echoed with very high expectations.  The opening chapter immediately pulled me in — the bond between Abdullah and Pari, the emotional weight of their separation, and the fable-like storytelling felt exactly like the Hosseini magic I was hoping for. It set the tone for a powerful, heartbreaking narrative.  However, as the story progressed, I found myself slowly slipping out of the book. After the first chapter, the narrative shifts to completely new characters, new timelines, and new subplots. Instead of deepening Abdullah and Pari’s story, the book branches out into multiple perspectives. While I understand the intention — to show how one decision echoes across different lives — I personally found it confusing and disconnected. The emotional momentum built in the beginning faded, and I struggled to stay engaged with characters who felt distant f...

Book Review - The Kite Runner

Image
This author never fails to impress me by his words and the details of the scenario he puts forward.  The Kite Runner is another heartwarming and emotional piece. The story is set in Kabul and is all about friendship, guilt and redemption. The best part I liked about this book is that there are a lot of Urdu/Farsi words in the dialogues which adds to the description of the culture he paints.  Amir and Hassan are two boys in the story and their bond is very pure. Their childhood is described really well by mentioning various activities, Hassan's innocence, Amir's jealousy and insecurity, a walk to 'their place,' etc. For you a thousand times over - is a line from the book which had a lot of weight in it. It shows so much love and loyalty. I would rate this book 4.8/5 ⭐  Happy Reading!

Book Review - Too Good To Be True

Image
What if one day the person you’ve always dreamed of walks into your life, and it feels too perfect to be true?  That’s the heart of  Too Good To Be True  by Prajakta Koli — a story that blends love, healing, and the unexpectedness of destiny. The book begins with Avani, a young, bubbly girl living alone in Mumbai. Her friends and her beloved Aaji are the closest thing she has to family. One day at a bookstore, she meets Aman — the perfect stranger — and their connection feels instant and surreal. As their story unfolds, the narrative takes you through the warmth and complexities of new love, while subtly weaving in deeper themes of grief, self-worth, and emotional growth. If you’re familiar with Prajakta’s content, the writing will feel effortlessly her — honest, humorous, and grounded. It’s not overly dramatic, which is refreshing. Instead, it stays real and heartfelt. I picked up the book out of curiosity, and I’m glad I did. As a debut novel, it’s impressive — a cozy, ...

Book Review - The Palace of Illusions

Image
Hello!! Today I am going to share about a book, which was unexpected! I got the book because of the title and the cover page, not knowing anything about this book. It is ... The Palace of Illusions by  Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni The Palace of Illusions is a refreshing retelling of the Mahabharata, but what makes it truly special is that it’s told from the perspective of Draupadi, a character who never really had a voice in the original epic. Through her eyes, the story feels more personal, emotional, and even rebellious at times. The book takes you through her journey—from her mysterious birth out of fire to her life as the queen of the Pandavas—all while exploring her thoughts, desires, and struggles in a male-dominated world. What I loved most is how relatable Draupadi feels. She’s strong, curious, outspoken, and flawed—which makes her real. Her secret longing for Karna, her complicated relationships with her five husbands, and her bond with Krishna add layers to her character. ...

Colleen Hoover book series review

Image
Hello Readers!  This time, I’m sharing not one, but two book reviews.  I recently finished Colleen Hoover's emotional rollercoaster series, It Ends with Us and It Starts with Us, and I couldn’t wait to discuss both together. These books delve into the complexities of love, trauma, and healing, and I'm excited to share my thoughts with you all. It Ends with Us is an emotional book, whereas It Starts with Us is a comforting, dramatic book. Lily Bloom, Ryle Kincaid, and Atlas Corrigan are the main characters in both these books.  Lily Bloom is a courageous and strong woman who has faced trauma and is trying to carve out a new life for herself. Ryle Kincaid, with his charm and arrogance, is the kind of man Lily initially thinks she can love, but his toxic tendencies soon become clear. Then there’s Atlas Corrigan, a mature and kind-hearted man who represents Lily’s first love and a chance for something healthier and more supportive. It ends with us, starting with Lily's life i...

Book Review-Unfinished: Priyanka Chopra

Image
How difficult is it to build a career doing what you love?  What if your family supported you every step of the way?  Would it still be as challenging? Priyanka Chopra Jonas' memoir Unfinished , beautifully captures this journey. This heartwarming book shares the story of her life—from her childhood and Miss World win to her global career in acting and singing. It also delves into her close family bonds and her love story with Nick Jonas. Each chapter reveals raw, emotional moments that may leave readers teary-eyed. Priyanka’s candid storytelling takes readers behind the scenes of her Bollywood and Hollywood projects, uncovering the struggles she faced—not just in her career but also in her personal life. I enjoyed reading Unfinished . It motivated me to stay ambitious and reminded me that with determination and support, it’s possible to overcome any challenge. I rate it 3.8/5⭐ Happy Reading!

Book Review - The Secret

Image
I first got to know about this book at a seminar I attended in my community. I learnt that this book is about the Law of Attraction. But I never felt the urge to read it since. Then, when I got more familiar with terms like "manifesting," "law of attraction," "affirmations," "positivity," "gratitude," etc., I got this book for my next read.  "To use the law of attraction to your advantage, make it a habitual way of being, not just a one-time thing." The book is a motivational, self-help book. It gives readers hope that they have control over their lives through their thoughts and feelings. However, some critics say that the book oversimplifies life’s challenges and makes it seem like positive thinking alone can solve everything, which may not always be realistic. "The more you use the power within you, the more power you will draw through you." This book is all about the Law of Attraction. It tells you to think posit...

Book Review - A Thousand Splendid Suns

Image
The last book I read before my break was A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini and What a book is this?  It kept both me and my mom so engrossed in it. Every page I read was so heart touching. PS: You might get teary eyed in some pages. This book's plot takes place in Kabul. Along with the other supporting characters, Mariam and Laila, two ladies, are the major characters. The author presents every detail of their life in a very natural way, going back to their early years, difficulties, how they met, and happy moments.  Not only are the details of these women's lives described with excellent detail, but we also get to see the surrounding area, the streets of Kabul, the restaurants, and how the city had become a war zone. This book portrays multiple expressions of love, including the love between a father and daughter, a girl and a boy, the love between two strangers who eventually developed a priceless bond, and the love between a mother and her daughter. In short, it w...

Riverdale International Residential School

Image
July 2015 was the first time I visited Riverdale for my junior college admission. I still remember it very clearly; it was an on-the-spot decision, and I didn't even search for it on Google. The right turn my cab took to enter the school—what I saw for the next few minutes was out of my imagination. A school on a massive hill. Like, seriously, is that possible? Yes, it is!  As I got out of the cab, I visited the founder's office for my interview, which was more like a discussion. I was still very nervous and wondered what this school looked like after what I saw. The first thing after the school building, I saw the dining hall, a huge hall with chairs and tables on the left, the food counter on the right, and a beautiful view of the Mulshi River surrounded by greenery out of the window. All the hill station feels! Riverdale had a dormitory system. Unity Dorm was my dorm, where junior college girls stayed. I had three roommates. And we had a single bed with a personal cupboard ...

BOOK REVIEW - THIS LOVE THAT FEELS RIGHT

Image
"This Love that Feels Right" by Ravinder Singh is a book about Naina, a married woman who is unhappy in her marriage despite having all the materialistic things. She craves what is called love from her husband. Naina meets a guy named Aarav, who is younger than her. They become really good friends and spend a lot of time hanging out. Aarav supports her and is there for her in her difficult times, and as their friendship grows, they fall in love with each other.  This book will take you on a roller-coaster ride of emotions; it celebrates love in small things. It narrates a story of impossible love that comes with a lot of limitations, fear, and tough decisions, but you want to experience it because it comforts you, supports you, and, above all, makes you happy. The title of the book 'This Love that feels right' was what both Naina and Aarav were telling themselves. Both Naina and Aarav are deeply in love with each other, and they know that this love will be impossib...

Why did I start BLOGGING ?

What is a Blog? Well I did not know about blog until I created one in my college for some reason which I don't remember now. But I know that - A blog is a platform where people can share their thoughts, views, experiences and other information about a topic. I thought of starting my blog during the lockdown when I remembered that I too had created a blog and haven't used it and wanted to take my writings a step ahead. I started writing in my school days when I was introduced to various types of writing. I practiced and started loving it. I was praised by my teacher for my writings and I have even won a Book Review competition in my Junior College. [I did not expect that] Over the years I have practiced Journal writing and it helps a lot when you cannot understand what to do, get a clear idea of something, calms and relaxes your mind when you are feeling anxious. I really like Writing. It is a way for me to remember how I spent some special occasion, or something unexpecting tha...
